A freeflow caused by an iced-up first stage is highly unlikely in such a warm-water destination, therefore a compact and travel-friendly regulator manufactured from lightweight composite materials is more than suitable and in addition to the advantage of reduced weight leaves more room in the kit bag too.
Claimed to be the lightest regulator in the world Apeks' Flight has been manufactured from advanced composite materials for best optimum strength to weight ratio. CE certified for diving in temperatures above 10C the regulator has an integrated venturi system, a pneumatically balanced fist and second stage with a large purge button and is neutrally buoyant. With four medium and two high-pressure ports the Flight weighs just 459g in its A-clamp incarnation.
Scubapro MK25/S600 Titanium
With a first stage machined from a solid block of titanium the MK25 is a lightweight, 480g, corrosion resistant, balanced piston regulator with five low-pressure ports on a swivel turret and two opposing HP ports. Its S600 second stage features titanium inserts, trim ring and interior barrel and can be fine-tuned via a diver-adjustable inhalation effort knob and Venturi dive-pre-dive switch.
The smallest and lightest of the Aqua Lung range, the Mikron's first stage is chrome over marine brass with a balanced diaphragm environmentally-sealed design and two HP and four MP ports. The pneumatically-balanced second stage features a breathing effort adjustment knob with Mini and Maxi positions to avoid freeflow at the surface and reduce the work of breathing respectively.
