A manta ray whose wing had been entangled in a fishing line was freed by divers in the Philippines, who caught the event on video

The group of divers was approached by the manta ray at the Manta Bowl dive site in the Philippines. Fishing line had cut through one of its wings.

Dive guide GL of the Ticao Island Resort tried several times to free the animal from the fishing line and finally succeeded.

'I'm convinced she stayed with us for help as this was the longest and closest interaction during the week of diving,' one of the divers, Jane Headley, wrote on her YouTube page. She filmed the event and said it was a 'truly amazing and emotional experience'.
