Stressed Corals Destroyed By Viruses


Leading microbiologist believes stressed reefs are at risk from viruses that live inside corals


Rebecca Vega Thurber of Oregon State University is studying the viruses that live inside corals such as the herpes virus. She suspects that such viruses can pose a serious risk to the health of reefs when they are stressed by factors such as pollution or global warming.
