Humpback Whale Calf Freed From Shark Net
A humpback whale calf that had been badly entangled in a shark net off Queensland's Rainbow Beach has been successfully freed by a wildlife rescue team
The five-metre long whale was spotted during a regular check of the nets by shark control officers who informed the Queensland Boating and Fisheries Patrol's Marine Animal Release Team.
About 20,000 humpback whales are currently migrating south from the warm waters of Australia's east coast to their feeding grounds in Antarctica.
