Man delivers three live pups from dead shark

A viral Youtube video shows a man delivering three live pups from a dead shark that had washed ashore at a beach Georgia, USA

The family who found the dead shark decided to cut its stomach after noticing movements, assuming it was a pregnant female.

While the man has been praised online for his efforts to save the three pups and the pups would have certainly died if he had not intervened, it is questionable whether they will be able to survive.

Shark scientist and blogger David Schiffman commented on Facebook that, 'Many species of sharks give live birth, but they do that once the pups are full-term, and most species do it in or near shallow, protected near nursery areas where the pups can grow up with a relatively low chance of being eaten by predators.' Given that the sharks pups were premature, 'it seems likely that these pups did not survive,' Schiffmann further said.
