Manatee 'Attacks' Swimmer

A viral video shows a manatee alledgedly 'attacking' a swimmer in Florida

While on a vacation, a group of spring-breakers went for a swim and encountered one of these harmless creatures - and their reaction is absolutely priceless.

Wielding a selfiestick, one girl films herself as she panics and trashes in the water, trying to get away from the animal.

Manatees, or sea cows, are gentle marine mammals that inhabit the calm coastal waters, rivers and freshwater springs of southeast Florida.

Whether or not the girl's reaction is genuine is hard to tell, but she was right to keep her distance. Manatees are protected under the federal Marine Mammal Protection Act of 1972 and the Endangered Species Act of 1973 making it is illegal to 'annoy, molest, harass, or disturb any manatee.'
