Stranded Great White Shark Rescued
A juvenile great white shark, beached in Massachusetts, has been rescued and revived through the joint efforts of beach-goers and conservationists
The two metre-long shark became stranded on a beach near Chatham, Massachusetts on Tuesday after the tide went out. Harbour Master Stuart Smith, along with Dr Greg Skomal of the MA Division of Marine Fisheries, and members of the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy – a non-profit organisation dedicated to the conservation of Atlantic white sharks, was able to revive the juvenile great white by soaking it with buckets of water.
The team were then able to tag the great white before pulling it back into open waters, a mile offshore.
