Get Involved

There’s lots of ways to get involved with DIVE from posting the most basic comment at the end of an article to writing a major feature and supplying the photographs. We welcome your contributions… help make DIVE even better.

Do you have a stunning photograph?

If you’ve taken that drop dead wonderful image you think other divers should see send a copy to our This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. It might make a great one-off posting or it might fit a feature we are preparing. It could be a vital news story or stunning eye candy. Full credit and links will be given to any photograph posted, copyright remains with the photographer and we will only use the photograph for the purpose it was submitted. It will not be reused without agreement.

Do you have a great set of photos?

Again send them to our This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. We are always looking for strong sets to share with our readers. It might well be the first step in getting an article published in DIVE magazine. We are looking for things that are unusual, funny, beautiful, interesting. Please don’t send in hundred of images and expect us to edit them - we don’t have time and the will not get looked at. But if you have a handful of photos that fit together and tell a story please get in contact. Full credit and links will be given to any photographs posted, copyright remains with the photographer and we will only use the photographs for the purpose they was submitted. How about a special video sequence?

One that captures animal behaviour, or tells a great story. It could be just a few moments of an unforgettable dive. A wreck in all its glory. An important news story. Who knows you might be the next Howard Hall. Email our This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. with details. Full credit and links will be given to any videos posted, copyright remains with the videographer and we will only use the video for the purpose it was submitted. Got a story to tell?

IHTM

This could be a a news story. It could be a press release from a diving organisation or business. It could be a personal experience you want to share. It might be tips and advice you would like to pass on. An event you want divers to attend.  Send your ideas to our This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. There are some basics that make it more likely that we can use it - a photograph, video or illustration always helps, keep it short and to the point, tell us about events before they happen as well as afterwards.

There are a couple of story themes we are always after:

  • It Happened To Me has been running in DIVE magazine for nearly 20 years. Click here for a recent example. If something happened to you when diving that you think others could learn from please contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. We pay £75 for each story we publish in the magazine.
  • My Dive is a new feature we are starting to run in the magazine and want to extend to the website. If you have a short guide to a diving destination you know well with some good photographs please contact our This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. It is a great way to share your knowledge and to promote a destination you want to support. It is also a first step to becoming a regular contributor for DIVE magazine.
  • New Kit on the Block send us a This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. if you are a manufacturer or distributor (with a good photograph or video) or if it's a new bit of kit you have discovered and want to share with other divers send us a web link and we will post it.
  • Shotline In the magazine we run a regular round up of competition winners, images from new books and stunning photos sent in by readers. If you've got a special image just email our This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
  • Reader Reviews is a new format we plan to run in our kit section - similar to My Dives in travel. This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. a brief review of a piece of kit you have been using plus your full name and a short address or location with details of your diving experience (number of dives or years diving). Keep it under 500 words. Include a photograph or video. Be honest and fair - tell us the good points and the flaws. Give it a score out of 10 for both quality and value (10 good, 1 hopeless).
  • Tales from the Bar. It’s time to bring back an old favourite. If you have a story that’s funny, absurd or just wonderful that tops everybody else when you are swapping diving stories over a drink then share it with us. Nothing obscene, protect the innocent and don’t libel anyone! Send your anecdotes to our This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. Photographs not essential.
