Crowdfund The World's Deepest Pool
A crowdfunding campaign has been launched to help fund the world's largest research, training and development pool near London, UK
The Essex-based company, Blue Abyss, announced the construction of the 50-metre deep pool in April and is now seeking support from the diving community to help get the project off the ground.
Features of the centre include the deepest dive pool, a hyperbaric chamber and a simulation facility for aerospace research and development. Elements, such as wrecks and caves will be designed to simulate different underwater scenarios.
Andrew Winnard of the UK Space Association said: 'The plans for the Blue Abyss facility are very exciting the pool and astronaut training programme will keep the UK at the forefront of training and research and will help us capitalise on the growing area of space tourism.'
The ambitious project is looking for donations between £5 and £20,000 and offers perks such as t-shirts, behind-the-scenes tours and freediving classes.
John Vickers, Managing Director of Blue Abyss, said 'We are inviting people to become involved in helping to create the world’s biggest aquatic research, training and development facility and first commercial astronaut training centre. By showing your support you too will help push the boundaries of what human beings can achieve and create a legacy for the next generation.'
