Located only a half hour boat ride from Manado, the capital of North Sulawesi, Indonesia, the luxury boutique resort is an eco-friendly property which places high emphasis on the protection of the marine park and the environment.
The resort officially opened in 2003 on the island which measures only 24 hectares. The Bunaken National Marine Park is regarded as one of the top marine parks in the world and is at the centre of marine biodiversity. It offers visitors breathtaking diving and snorkelling with an incredible variety of marine life. Siladen Resort & Spa is located on the western side of the island on a 300m-long beach facing the resting Manadotua volcano.
Tucked away behind palm trees, Siladen offers guests an elegant and relaxing atmosphere with king size beds, outdoor open air showers and sundecks overlooking the calm seas.
The rooms - 19 villas
Three luxury villas are located directly on the beach. Each villa measures 74 sqm, features a bedroom and a living room, a spacious terrace, beautiful wooden floors, king size draped poster bed, air conditioning, room safe, mini bar, flat screen HD television with satellite connection, telephone and tea & coffee making facilities.
The five beach view villas are a slightly smaller and all feature individual air conditioning, room safe, mini bar, satellite TV, telephone, tea & coffee making facilities, private bathrooms with hot/cold water and sundeck with private sun beds.
The ten smaller garden view villas are set in five elegant wooden buildings. They are located in the peaceful and tropical landscaped area just metres from the beach and provide individual air conditioning, room safe, mini bar, satellite TV, telephone, tea & coffee making facilities, private bathrooms with hot/cold water and a private terrace.
Restaurant & Lounge Bar
A variety of local Indonesian and Asian dishes and gourmet European and Mediterranean recipes are available at the restaurant. Barbecues on the beach are a regular feature in the dry season and private beach dinners are available on request. A wide selection of imported wines, spirits and cocktails are available. The Siladen Spa is a great place to de-stress after a day's diving. On the menu are traditional Indonesian rituals, massages, aromatherapy and cleansing treatments, body scrubs, and herbal, honey, lulur, salt and mud skin treatments. Learn more about the spa here.
For non-diving days and surface intervals, a number of excursions are offered, including sunset cruises, dolphin tours, rafting and jungle trekking and more and guests can rent kayaks and stand-up paddleboards. A large swimming pool allows guests to enjoy spectacular sunsets while enjoying a drink in the cool water. The lounge bar has a billiard table, a library and table games. The resort owned dive centre is located on Pulau Siladen, a lush tropical island in the heart of the world renowned Bunaken National Marine Park. Located in the centre of the Coral Triangle and created in 1991 Bunaken National Park covers a total surface area of 89,065 hectares, 97 per cent of which is clear, warm tropical water. The remaining three per cent of the park is terrestrial, including the five islands of Bunaken, Manado Tua, Mantehage, Nain and Siladen.
Besides diving and snorkelling in Bunaken National Park, muck diving in Manado Bay or soft coral dives in the slopes of Bangka Island are available. The four traditionally designed boats are spacious and have all the necessary amenities such as marine toilets and sundecks. All boats provide covered seating and dry storage areas for cameras and personal belongings and are staffed by licensed captains and an assistant. Each vessel is equipped with first aid and emergency oxygen as well. Drinking water, coffee and tea are available free of charge on all boats and fresh fruit and snacks are provided after every dive.
