With one month left to go in the nominations for DIVE's 2018 Travel Awards, the race to be put forward to the vote has heated up...
Fifty-six unique destinations, 170 different dive centres and resorts, and precisely 100 different liveaboard vessels have so far been nominated for our 2018 Travel Awards. The top 25 will go through to the vote which opens on 1 August and which will close at the end of October, in time for the winners to be announced at DEMA, Las Vegas, in November.
There have been a fair few changes since the last update two weeks ago, with new entries pushing some of the favourites down the leaderboard, although of course, it's not necessarily the overall number of nominations that counts, as long as there are enough to secure a place in the top 25.
Indonesia, as with the last two years, looks secure in its place on the leaderboard, as do Lembeh Resort and Siladen Resort and Spa at the top of the dive centre and resort category. None of the other placings are guaranteed, with only a handful of nominations separating the last ten places in each category.
Egypt has climbed up the rankings, rising from 5th place to 2nd behind Indonesia, with Tanzania and Malta also surging over the last couple of weeks. Camel Dive Club in Sharm has been steadily rising and OBLU by Atmosphere at Helengeli has picked up from a late start to place in the top 25 for the first time since the nominations opened.
Some of the biggest changes are in the Liveaboard category, however, with Sea Hunter and Argo of Costa Rica's Undersea Hunter Group pushing Egypt's Whirlwind and Hurricane of the Tornado Marine Fleet off the top spots, and although it's looking good for the top 5 in the liveaboard category, the other 20 are by no means certain to go through to the final vote.
The updated list of the top 25 nominations is as follows:
|Destination||Dive Centre or Resort||Liveaboard|
