Wildlife Cameraman Doug Allan to Embark on UK Theatre Tour
'Wildlife cameramen don’t come much more special than Doug Allan'– Sir David Attenborough
Multi-award winning cameraman Doug Allan, whose credits include Sir David Attenborough's Blue Planet, Planet Earth, Frozen Planet and Brian Cox's Forces of Nature, is to embark on a 21-date UK theatre tour this autumn to share his experiences as one of the world's leading wildlife cameraman.
Doug Allan – Wild Images, Wild Life will start at Winchester’s Theatre Royal on 16 September and conclude on 1 December at The Gatehouse Theatre in Stafford. Allan, who has five Bafta and eight Emmy Awards to his name, will share behind the scenes stories for all the family, with highlights from the most challenging assignments of his 35 years filming wildlife in the remotest places on Earth. Allan will also be tracing his personal journey as he discusses how he’s seen pollution and climate change affect the natural world.
Born in Fife, Doug Allan spent seven years in Antarctica as a Scientist, research diver and photographer for the British Antarctic Survey before changing direction to full-time freelance filming in 1983. Since then he has become one of the world’s best known and most respected cameramen, specialising in natural history, expeditions and science documentaries. In addition to his work with Sir David Attenborough and Brian Cox, Allan has also worked for the BBC, Discovery and National Geographic channels filming programmes such as Human Planet, Ocean Giants, Operation Iceberg, and Wild Cameramen at Work.
Doug Allan - Wild Images, Wild Life will run for 2 hours including a 20-minute interval and audience Q&A. Copies of Allan's book Freeze Frame will be on sale along with colour prints of polar bears, penguins and seals.
