Featured Photographer | Alessandro Fantin
Alessandro Fantin was born in Italy in 1983. He had a passion for the sea since he was a child. When on vacation with his family he usually went snorkelling and daydreamed about travelling to tropical destinations. In 2001 on his first trip to the Red Sea, he fell in love with coral reefs.
His passion for underwater photography developed in 2015 after a trip to the Maldives, where he got his Open Water licence. He regularly travels to Southeast Asia with a group of fellow underwater photographers to document the rich biodiversity.
Alessandro concentrates on macro photography - particularly using a snoot to control the lighting of his subjects. For Alessandro every picture is a mission, from planning the excursion to finding the subject, shooting it and post-producing the final image. He says he hopes his work encourages people to respect one of nature's biggest gifts – the Ocean.
