I am Ahmed Mohamed, a 34-year-old scuba diving instructor and underwater photographer from Bahrain. My passion for the sea started at childhood, as my home is an island and the sea has cast its charm on us both historically and visually. In 2014, I started diving to see the beauty of the underwater world. In 2016 I was inspired by the work of my dear friend Hani Bader and started my own journey into the world of underwater photography to capture, document and share the magic of what is a mystery for many.
Initially, I was fascinated by nudibranchs, gobies and seahorses. But when I started using fisheye lenses my interest shifted towards capturing underwater scenes such as coral reefs and shipwrecks. As with any passion, one should always work on improving your skills and gain more experience. I started experimenting with different subjects and techniques.
Driven by my passion to share my images and experience with the world, I became a scuba diving instructor in 2017. This year, I joined experts in marine sciences from the Kingdom of Bahrain in a number of research projects focusing on dugongs and seagrass in the area.
I enjoy diving locally as our marine life is so rich and distinctive. I have also dived in Thailand and the Red Sea. Hopefully, in the future, I will visit The Bahamas, Indonesia, Mexico and the Philippines.
One last note. Enjoy the beauty of nature, and preserve it for future generations.
