My name is Philipp Stahr, I am an underwater photographer currently living in Germany. During a trip around the world in 2010, I ended up in Thailand and tried scuba diving for the first time - since that day the underwater world became my second home, it was a turning point in my life.

At that time I had no friends who were into diving, and so I started travelling the world, scuba diving on my own. However, travelling alone as a diver always leads to finding new friends.  One introduced me to underwater photography that has become my new challenge and passion.

In recent years I have visited dive sites in Germany, the Red Sea in Egypt, Sinai and Israel, the Philippines, the Maldives, the Dutch Caribbean, Thailand and Indonesia.

My favourite destination is Indonesia with its countless number of islands. It gives me the opportunity to take wide-angle shots of colourful reefs and massive sea creatures.

If you are able to sharpen your eye and are a patient diver, the underwater world of Indonesia will also reward you with a never-ending option of fascinating macro life.

My first underwater camera setup was a Canon G7X Mark II. I then upgraded to a Sony Alpha 6400, with Sigma 16mm f1.4 DC as my lens of choice for wide-angle or Sigma 10mm f2.8 EX DC HSM for fisheye. For macro, I use Canon EF-S 60mm F2.8 USM Macro. All this is protected in a Fantasea housing with INON ports.
