 High speed scooter for divers

Scuba Divers with the SEABOB speed scooter

The German-made Seabob F5S sled is, the manufacturer claims, the fastest underwarer scooter available with a top speed of 20 km per hour. It is to be launched at next month's diving trade show DEMA  in Las Vegas.

Powered with lithium-manganese batteries, it is easy to manouever and weighs in at only 35kg. It can be recharged in 60 minutes. The downside is that this speedy sled can only go to 40m. The F5S is the big brother of the slighly slower Seabob F5 wihich weights 29kg.

The drive system is simple to use - squeezing the handgrip trigger activates the unit, pressing on one sensor accelerates, the other brakes and if you release the trigger the propulsion stops.

Prices start at €9,335 for the F5 and €12,828.20 for the F5S. See http://www.seabob.com/en/
