Huish Outdoors Issues Recall Notice for Oceanic and Hollis Regulators

huish recall title

Huish Outdoors LLC, the parent company of Oceanic and Hollis, has issued a safety recall notice for regulators purchased or serviced between 1 October 2017 and 25 May 2018.

The fault involves a new high pressure (HP) poppet used in the manufacture of the first stage which may cause airflow to be restricted when tank pressure drops below 500psi/35bar, leading to a potential drowning hazard.

No incidents involving the regulators have been reported and the recall applies only to the 4,500 regulators sold in the US, and a further 330 sold in Canada. Recall notices on the Oceanic and Hollis websites advise that divers in possession of such a regulator should not use it, and immediately contact their nearest dealer for a no-cost replacement of the affected parts.

The affected regulators are:

  • Oceanic CDX First Stage
  • Oceanic EDX First Stage
  • Oceanic FDX10 First Stage
  • Oceanic FDXi First Stage
  • Hollis DC7 First Stage

  • Hollis DC1 First Stage
  • Hollis DC2 First Stage

The affected regulators can be identified by the serial number etched into the body of the regulator's first stage, or on the original packaging if still available (shown below)
