Northern Diver | Still Evolving After 40 Years of Innovation
How it All Began
Northern Diver began when Mike Armitage tried to buy a made-to-measure drysuit. What he received was a wetsuit with seals. At this point in time, Mike had been diving for five years and had made many wetsuits for himself and friends. With this prior knowledge and skills, he thought how difficult could it really be to make a drysuit? And the rest, as they say, is history.
Today Northern Diver manufactures in excess of 16,000 drysuits a year for customers all over the world. Northern Diver designs and creates drysuits for a broad spectrum of uses: from sport and commercial suits to military and rescue drysuits for fire services. The team has even developed anti-chemical and biological suits for contaminated water.
Northern Diver's focus has always been improving and innovating their suits for customers which is why when there’s a need for a specialist suit designing, people trust Northern Diver to deliver. If you want to stay dry, safe and especially comfortable then like many military, commercial and adventurous sport divers, contact Northern Diver.
Evolving to Today
Good design and quality manufacture have always been the hallmarks of the Northern Diver brand, and working in the Military, Commercial and Rescue sectors has furthered this drive and knowledge. The cross-sector technical expertise Northern Diver has amassed has enabled the company to consistently launch innovative products for sport divers. A large and diverse product range has made them a one-stop shop for all manner of diving equipment.
From drysuits to lighting, sonar to boats, Northern Diver prides itself on continuously evolving and innovation its portfolio. The team believe embracing new materials and technology is why they continue to develop new and exciting diving equipment, as well as continuing to add to and update their drysuit range.
What's Next?
Today Northern Diver is in the process of building a 22-metre-deep diving tower, at their base in Appley Bridge in Lancashire. In the future, the company plans to add a concrete-lined diving pond and crystal-clear fresh water, all of which will allow novices a safe and secure training area. Northern Diver’s goal is to create a training facilities hub for sport, commercial and military divers.
