Shearwater Research Launches New 'Smart' Air-Integrated Transmitter
Canada's Shearwater Research Inc has announced the launch of its next-generation wireless pressure transmitter for its air-integrated (AI) dive computers, the Shearwater Swift.
According to the manufacturer, the Swift uses 'smart AI technology' to create a reliable connection while listening for other transmitters. The Swift will only communicate with its paired computer when the communications channel is clear, allowing divers to use multiple transmitters in close proximity without having to worry about potential interference.
The Swift is backwards-compatible with all existing Shearwater AI-enabled computers, and a new computer firmware update on compatible models will enable support for up to four transmitters to be connected simultaneously. The firmware update also includes new screen customisation features and an AI Sidemount mode.
The Shearwater Swift's 'no-tools' design makes it easy to connect and disconnect the transmitter from a regulator 1st stage. A double O-ring seal protects the user-replaceable 3V CR2 lithium battery, which offers up to 300 hours of operation. An LED status indicator gives lets divers know the device is functioning with a single glance during setup.
Constructed from high-quality oxygen-compatible components, the Swift is a compact 76mm x 34mm and weighs in at 135g. The transmitter is rated to 200msw and will handle 300 bar tank pressure.
RRP Swift AI Transmitter: €335
