Here's a selection of the social media reaction to the campaigning film about captive orcas - Blackfish

2  The birthday wish of a 5-year old

After watching Blackfish, the five year-old Cash and his parents recorded a heartwarming Youtube clip of Cash sharing his opinion on orcas in captivity: 'I used to like Sea World, but now I don't like it. They're taking baby orcas from their mom to Sea World and they're putting them into the little pools but they need to be free, out in the wild.'  Damn right, Cash!

3  A cancelled school trip

Last year the Point Dume Marine Science Elementary School in Malibu, California, broke with a tradition when they cancelled their annual trip of fifth-graders to Sea World. Students and parents had raised concerns about the welfare of the animals at the amusement park after watching Blackfish and promted school principal Rebecca Johnson to find an alternative destination for the field trip.

4  The compassionate teacher of the year and his students

'Would it be okay for me to be taken from my family at the age of 4?'
Inspired by the documentary primary school teacher Lee Parkinson designed a project for his Year 5 class at the Davyhulme school in Manchester discussing the plight of whales and dolphins in captivity. The class shares their conclusions in a moving video.

In the wake of the documentary Blackfish, Joan Jett, Martina McBride, Trisha Yearwood, REO Speedwagon, Heart, Barenaked Ladies, Willie Nelson and Cheap Trick all cancelled planned performances at the 'Bands, Brew and BBQ Fest' at SeaWorld which was scheduled for February 2014.

In an interview, Willie Nelson told CNN: 'I don't agree with the way they treat their animals. It wasn't that hard a deal for me'.

Rock singer  Joan Jett sent a letter to SeaWorld President Jim Atchison telling him to stop using her song 'I Love Rock 'N' Roll' as the opening music for its 'Shamu Rocks' show.
