Bobcat Catches Shark In Florida

Beachgoer takes viral photo of a bobcat dragging a shark out of the surf in Vero Beach, Florida

John Bailey was walking along the beach in the Sebastian Inlet State Park on Monday night when he spotted the bobcat feeding on smaller fish in the shallows. The cat then leaped and snatched the one-metre-long shark and dragged it out of the water, Bailey told local media.

Liz Barraco, a spokesperson for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, said that although bobcats are known to eat a variety of mammals, birds and fish, but this was the first time a bobcat had been seen fishing in saltwater.

Seemingly startled, the bobcat dropped the shark and ran off into the woods, away from beachgoer John Bailey.

'I was fascinated with the whole thing and didn't even think about the fact that I was potentially in danger,' he commented.
