Stranded Orca Rescued In Canada

Volunteers have successfully saved an orca that had stranded on rocks

Responding to a call from one of their colleagues, volunteers from The Guardians, Whale Point and WWF rushed to the scene on near Hartley Bay in British Columbia, Canada.

The team build a water pump slowly approached the whale, covering the orca with a wet sheet to keep her cool.

'On some level this transient orca understood that we were trying to help,' Whale Point said on Facebook.

After being stuck for more than six hours, the tide finally set in at around 4pm and the orca was freed.

'A giant thank you once again to this amazing community that comes together so quickly to protect what is sacred,' the Facebook post said.
