Unmissable sunfish videos

Mola Mola or the ocean sunfish is one of the weirdest fish in the sea. It is the heaviest known bony fish with some weighing in at more than 1,000kg. It resembles a vast fish head with a tail - some are as tall as they are long.

You can find them in both tropical and temperate waters feeding on their staple of jellyfish. They consume vast numbers to reach such sizes.  Their other claim to fame is that they produce more eggs than any other vertebrate - up to 300 million at a time!

Here's five YouTube bursts of Mola Mola action…

1) Santa Maria, Azores

'A few days before, my camera was damaged when the underwater housing flooded. The bad luck was compensated when diving with a GoPro I saw the giant sunfish almost at surface level and practically static. The sunfish seemed not to be bothered by our presence at all and followed us for 15 minutes,'  said Miguel Pereira.

 2) Hungry Orca Closes In

 3) Ghostly Giant

Feeding time in the cold  Pacific waters of Quatsino Sound, Vancouver Island, Canada.

 4) Queues at the Cleaning Station

Slow start, but worth the wait for when three Mola Mola fill the screen!

5) Big Brutes in Bali

They really are ocean giants in Indonesia.
