More than 50 dead sharks were found washed up on a beach in Wales over the Bank Holiday weekend. Natural Resources Wales are investigating the gruesome discovery made by holidaymaker Laura Campbell while walking along Rhossili Bay near Swansea in South Wales.

Ms Campbell, 24, said: 'We were on a walk going down the beach when we started to see sharks that looked like they had been washed up on the shore. We carried on walking and saw more sharks every metre or so. I think there were more than 50 in total.'

The sharks may have been dumped as bycatch from a fishing boat. One of the dead sharks had a piece of fishing wire attached and other discarded fishing gear was found on the beach.

A spokesman for Natural Resources Wales said: 'We’ve logged the details and have assigned the case over to one of our officers to investigate.'
