The stunning images of Christy Lee Rogers

Rogers A Quarter of a Million MilesA Quarter of a Million Miles

The work of photographic artist Christy Lee Rogers is inspired by Caravaggio rather than traditional underwater photography, and her unique use of light, colour and models creates unique and very beautiful images.

Although Christy shoots from land, the lighting and models are placed underwater, providing considerable technical challenges.

Christy grew up surrounded by water in Hawai’i, where her surfer father taught her a deep respect for the ocean, and the use of water in her work has become hugely important to her.

‘Water supports life and without it we couldn’t survive,’ says Christy. ‘So I formed a deep love for water and wanted to always be near it. Its organic, messy and powerful nature was also calming to the mind, body and soul. This love is what led me to use water as an artistic source for my images and art.’
