The snakelocks anemone (Anemonia viridis) is a common sight in the eastern Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea.

The jewel anemone (Corynactis viridis) is so-called because of its spectacular colouration. Individuals may be bright green, orange, red, pink or white and the tentacles and their tips are typically contrasting colours.

The  purple tips of the snakelocks anemone are due to the presence of a symbiotic algae that uses sunlight as an energy source .

The dahlia anemone (Urticina felina) is found in the north Atlantic Ocean, the North Sea and the Baltic Sea. Its colour is variable, from deep red to brown or purplish, with green spots and darker tentacles.
