Sound Diving Unites Ocean Lovers From Across With Free SSI Specialty
Plymouth-based dive centre, Sound Diving, is offering ocean lovers around the world its SSI Marine Ecology course entirely for free. As well as helping to lift the lockdown blues, Sound Diving's staff hope that the course, which normally costs £150, will spark more interest in local conservation initiatives, and reinvigorate its students’ love for their nearby shores.
The course is being offered as part of SSI's campaign to promote its 'dry' speciality programmes. The scuba diving training agency has offered dive centres the opportunity to register for its Marine Ecology digital kit and certification for free, and the team at Sound Diving is taking the opportunity further by waiving their instructor fees.
The Marine Ecology course is entirely online and is open to divers and non-divers of all ages, and a special children's version is also available. In order to participate in Sound Diving's free session, register by following the instructions on Sound Diving's Facebook event page. Course materials will be provided for study and a Zoom lecture will be held on Wednesday, 24 February between 10:00am and 11:00am GMT. Final certifications will be issued upon completion of a final exam.
'Over the past twelve months, it’s become clear just how much we need to be doing to look after our planet,' said Debbie, owner of Sound Diving. 'We’re fortunate to be able to support people of all ages and backgrounds to learn about such an important and interesting topic, and hopefully to build a community of marine conservationists who can really make a difference by working together. Initiatives like this are incredibly rewarding and so worthwhile.'
SSI's offer lasts until the end of March, and Sound Diving has more dates scheduled over the next month.
