Plastic-free Portable Utensils For Outdoor Adventures

PADI has launched a set of plastic-free, portable utensils to help in the fight against plastic pollution in honour of World Ocean's Day 2021. The plastic-free sets include PADI's Bamboo Travel Cutlery and Stainless Steel Straw sets.

Like many leading ocean-related organisations, PADI has committed itself to reducing the damage that single-use plastics can cause to our oceans and its wildlife. Plastic pollution is found at all depths of the ocean - even the deepest parts of the Mariana Trench - and we are becoming all too familiar with the sight of the suffering it causes to our favourite aquatic wildlife.

The company has teamed up with To-Go Ware to create the reusable, bamboo utensil set for outdoor dining without having to worry about polluting the environment.

PADI’s Bamboo Travel Cutlery set is made from natural, responsibly sourced bamboo and includes a knife, fork, spoon and chopsticks. Heat and stain-resistant, the strong and long-lasting, dishwasher-safe utensils are hand finished with top-grade, natural, food-safe wood oil, that won’t impart or absorb flavours. The utensils are contained in a lightweight, portable case made from recycled plastic bottles removed from the ocean and are available in black, red and blue.

The Stainless Steel Straw Set includes an eco-friendly jute bag that holds two durable and long-lasting steel straws, engraved with the PADI logo and a handy cleaning brush, which can be carried with you wherever you go. Unlike plastic alternatives, these food-grade straws are non-toxic and BPA free to ensure stylish – and safe, sipping.

With an estimated 40 billion plastic utensil and 8.3 billion straws used every day – most of which will never be recycled, replacing such small things with reusable items is an easy way each of us can help save marine life and will make a big impact on reducing plastic in our seas. To date, PADI and its partners have removed and reused nearly 26,000 kgs of plastic from the sale of gear made of recycled ocean plastic

PADI’s Bamboo Travel Cutlery Set and Stainless Steel Straw sets can be purchased through PADIGear.net and retail at £15.00.
