One of the Best Wrecks in the Caribbean Back In Business
A year-long ban on diving one of the most popular wrecks in the Caribbean was lifted this week - the MV Superior Producer has been off limits for divers while a new cruise ship pier was built in Curaçao and many feared divers were going to be permanently barred from the area.
A campaign by local divers and dive centres that divers should be allowed back on the wreck gained international support. This week the Curaçao Port Authority (CPA) announced in a press release that 'Diving is Once Again Allowed At Superior Producer'.
Since it’s sinking in 1977, the wreck has become one of Curaçao’s most popular dive sites. Last year it was voted as one of the Top 5 Best Caribbean Dive Sites by USA Today!
The CPA announcement said the site will be off-limits when ships are moored at the new pier.
