The nominations have been coming in thick and fast for DIVE's 2018 Travel Awards. With just over six weeks left to go, here's an update on who's in the running so far
We've already received more than enough nominations to make up the top 25 that we'll put through to the live vote beginning on 1 August. So far a total of 58 unique destinations, 131 resorts or dive centres, and 88 different liveaboard vessels have been nominated by DIVE's readers.
Indonesia, winner of the destinations category for the last two years running, has already been nominated more times than all of the other destinations combined, with the Philippines and Maldives placing second and third.
In the resort or dive centre category, last year's winner - Siladen Resort and Spa in Bunaken - has been knocked off the top spot, placing behind the current leaders Lembeh Resort, with Wakatobi in third place. In the liveaboard category, Cocos Island's Sea Hunter has dropped down into third place in the nominations, behind the Hurghada-based Tornado Fleet's Hurricane and Whirlwind.
Remember, it's the final vote that counts, not the number of nominations that will win this year's Travel Awards. There's plenty of time to get more names into the running, or bump some of your favourites up the ladder to guarantee their place in the top 25. Nominations will close on 27 July and the main vote will start on Wednesday 1 August and will be open for three months. The winners will be announced in November at DEMA 2018
Current top 25 nominations in each category are:
