Make 2019 the year for the ultimate dive vacation at Wakatobi Resort. From pristine reefs and intriguing marine life to relaxed luxury and impeccable service, Wakatobi has it all. The remote island paradise is easy to reach via direct flights from Bali to the resort's private airstrip. Once there, you can leave the world behind. Wakatobi invites divers to discover why the dive resort is consistently ranked among the world's best, and why so many guests call it their favourite vacation ever. Those seeking further adventure should consider combining a trip to Wakatobi Resort with a Pelagian cruise to make the best of both worlds!
Wakatobi’s dive yacht, Pelagian, embarks on week-long cruises of discovery and adventure to some of Indonesia's most remote and seldom-visited reefs, seamounts and critter-rich lagoons. This 35-meter yacht cruises the Wakatobi island group and ventures to the macro-life mecca of South Buton Island. Pelagian caries a maximum of 10 guests, delivering impeccable service and more space per guest than any other dive yacht of its kind. Come aboard to experience some of Indonesia’s most stunning dive sites. Consider combining a Pelagian trip with a visit to Wakatobi Resort for the best of both worlds.
WAKATOBI’S MACRO MAGIC
The wealth of macro subjects on the reefs of Wakatobi is seemingly innumerable, with the list running from a multi-species collection of anemonefish, sightings of ghost pipefish, tiger shrimp, twin-spot signal gobies and leaf scorpionfish, as well as a variety of seahorses from the rare pygmy seahorse to its long spiny cousin. Prime hunting grounds are as close as the resort's famous House Reef, which begins right off the beach and encompasses stunning coral slopes and shallows. Take a short video voyage for a sample of the small stuff that awaits you on a dive or snorkel at Wakatobi.
TOP OF THE REEF
Wakatobi has every kind of topography the diver could ask for - steep slopes, sheer walls, shallow, sandy basins - all covered in pristine coral. The top of the reef is immensely rich in coral, seagrass and critters, which makes Wakatobi such a great place to enjoy a snorkelling vacation, and an excellent place to spend an extended safety stop at the end of a dive.
You can find more of Wakatobi's videos on the resort's YouTube Channel. DIVE reported from Wakatobi in our Autumn 2018 Print Issue and spoke to its founder, Lorenz Mäder, about how his work over the last 25 years has helped to sustain both the local reefs and the local village.
