Ceningan Divers is a PADI Five Star dive resort located on Nusa Ceningan, the smallest of the three Nusa islands located off the southeast coast of Bali, Indonesia. Nestled among mangroves and palm trees and surrounded by the underwater treasures of the Nusa Penida Marine Protected Area, the boutique eco-resort provides divers with comfort and tranquillity without sacrificing amenities.

Since opening in 2015, Ceningan Divers has grown in reputation, winning a number of awards and attracting divers from around the world. One of the biggest draws is the resort’s commitment to preserving the island’s beauty and protecting its marine life, evident in its eco-minded initiatives: no single-use plastics, on-site compost, a hydroponics garden, mangrove nursery, stainless steel straws, water refill stations, rainwater collection, and more. The friendly staff even take part in weekly trash pickups helping to keep the island clean and to help prevent the rubbish from polluting the beautiful dive sites.

World-class dive sites are another big draw, with some of the best scuba diving that can be found around Bali. The incredible biodiversity of the Coral Triangle is on full display around the islands. Ceningan Divers is at the centre of a scuba diving paradise, filled with critters ranging from the smallest macro wonders to the biggest fish in the ocean.

The Mangrove Restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with enough options to cater to even the most particular gourmand. International dishes include a mezze plate, beef tenderloin, bangers & mash, burgers, pasta, stir-fry, and curry. Traditional Indonesian dishes, such as pepes ikan, nasi goreng, sate ayam, gado-gado, and more, are done in the Mangrove Restaurant's unique style. Seafood, starters, salads, sandwiches, and sweet desserts round out the menu. Using herbs and garnishes grown in the resort's hydroponic garden, the meals are artistically plated, look great and taste even better. Vegans and vegetarians will find lots to love.

The Bar

The Diving

Ceningan Divers is a multi-award winning PADI 5 Star Dive Resort, a Green Fins Operator, Green Star Award, and 100% AWARE Partner. The dive resort is situated on the island of Nusa Ceningan, a short boat ride to the various dive sites surrounding the islands in the Nusa Penida Marine Protected Area, home to almost three hundred species of coral and over five hundred species of reef fish.

Two giants of the ocean are found in the area: manta rays and the common mola. For those searching for macro wonders, orangutang crab, mantis shrimp, glass shrimp, and numerous nudibranchs are just the beginning. In between these two extremes, divers can see octopus, giant trevally, triggerfish, leaf scorpionfish, lionfish, frogfish, and so much more.

As part of the sustainable program, sarongs are provided to divers to protect themselves from the sun, remain warm and dry between dives. Dive site selection and conditions

ceningan divers manta rays

The team select the best dive sites based on the conditions and the level of experience of the guests.

Manta rays are found along the south coast of Nusa Penida all year long, but trips to the manta sites can be weather-dependent. In general, the swells tend to be higher for a few days just before and after the new and full moons, and hence conditions may not be the best. The north side of the island, however, is always welcoming.

High season range from mid-June to late October and during the Christmas / New Year holidays. The rainy season starts in late November and lasts until early April. The best time for Mola is mid-August to mid-October, although we do see them randomly throughout the year.
