EasyJet Latest Carrier to Offer Flights to Sharm El Sheikh
Budget airline EasyJet has announced that it is to resume flights to Sharm El Sheikh after almost five years.
The announcement is the latest good news for the resort of Sharm since the lifting of the UK FCO's travel advisory banning direct flights to Sharm airport after the 2015 Russian Metrojet disaster. Rival tour operator TUI announced flights to Sharm at the beginning of November 2019, and Red Sea Holidays announced that they would be selling flights to Sharm less than 12 hours after the FCO lifted the ban.
The new service will start with two flights per week from Manchester from 7 June and from London's Gatwick airport on 30 September. The flights are already on sale with prices starting from £99.99. In addition to the new routes to Sharm, EasyJet will increase the number of flights to Hurghada to three per week, starting from 1 June.
'The resumption of services to Sharm El Sheikh and year-round flights to Hurghada are both fantastic destinations for both summer and winter sun,' said EasyJet UK manager, Ali Gayward. 'With stunning beaches boasting crystal clear waters and great diving and marine life to explore, we know they will once again be a popular choice for our customers.'
