Above and Below the Waters of Gili Trawangan During Covid19 Lockdown
Gili Trawangan is a small but vibrant island in Indonesia, situated to the east of Bali off the coast of the island of Lombok. The island relies almost solely on tourism for its income, and so life under lockdown brings with it a dramatic change.
But Gili Trawangan is an island with spirit, and the local community has come together once more during these uncertain times, just as they did in the wake of the August 2018 Lombok earthquake. DIVE correspondent, acclaimed photographer and Gili Trawangan resident, Alfie Minnaar, with videographer Ash Embi, takes us on a tour of island life under lockdown, and showcases his photographic skills as a group of friends take advantage of the empty dive sites to shoot a new project.
