Virtual Postcards From One of the Caribbean's Favourite Diving Destinations
The island of Curaçao in the southern Caribbean is regularly voted as one of the best scuba diving destinations in the world, placing fifth overall in DIVE's 2019 Travel Awards. During the difficult days of the coronavirus lockdown, Nature Pics Films and Dive Curaçao teamed up to produce a series of virtual postcards of the island and its diving to remind previous visitors of happier days and let anybody who hasn't been there before know what they're missing for making post-lockdown holiday plans.
Here in Episode 3, we explore the beautiful beach at Cas Abao and in Episode 4, the must-dive location of Eastpoint.
Episode 3 - Cas Abao
Cas Abao has been voted one of the best Caribbean beaches – a true paradise with its clear turquoise water, waving palm trees and white sandy beach. Located on the northwest coast of Curaçao, Cas Abao beach is an ideal spot for shore diving, snorkelling, and swimming with vibrantly populated shallows leading to a healthy fringing coral reef.
Episode 4 - Eastpoint
Eastpoint – locally known as Oostpunt – is located at the very eastern tip of Curaçao’s National Marine Park, an area where endangered species of staghorn and elkhorn corals still thrive. Only accessible by boat, Eastpoint is one of the most pristine and unblemished fringing reef systems in Curaçao – perhaps the entire Caribbean – and one of the islands 'must dive' dive sites.
