Virtual Postcards From One of the Caribbean's Favourite Diving Destinations
The sheltered beach at Marie Pampoen is an ideal training ground leading to beautiful coral reefs
The island of Curaçao in the southern Caribbean is regularly voted as one of the best scuba diving destinations in the world, placing fifth overall in DIVE's 2019 Travel Awards. During the difficult days of the coronavirus lockdown, Nature Pics Films and Dive Curaçao teamed up to produce a series of virtual postcards of the island and its diving to remind previous visitors of happier days and let anybody who hasn't been there before know what they're missing for making post-lockdown holiday plans.
Here in Episode 7, we visit Bapor Kibrá with Ocean Encounters at the LionsDive Beach Resort, and in Episode 8, Marie Pampoen and the Pierbaai Car Pile with The Dive Bus.
Episode 7 - Bapor Kibrá
Bapor Kibrá, which translates as 'broken ship', is home to one of Curaçao's best dive sites – Shipwreck Point. This area also has a wide variety of tourist attractions that includes the Curaçao Sea Aquarium Park and Mambo Beach Boulevard which provide many options for entertainment, shopping and – of course – indulging yourself.
Episode 8 - Marie Pampoen
Playa Marie Pampoen is a small beach located next door to Sunscape Curaçao Resort, Beach and Casino. It is free to access and popular with the local residents, and it's also great for diving! The beach provides access to the beautiful coral reefs of Pierbaai – The Dive Bus house reef – and the unique and fascinating 'Car Pile'.
