Featured Photographer Sam

My name is Sam Glenn-Smith and I am an underwater photographer and dive guide from the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria, Australia. My passion for diving began on an overseas trip with my father when I was a teenager where I saw many fascinating creatures and met likeminded people.

Through my photography, I aim to show what weird and wonderful creatures are beneath the waters surrounding Australia and raise awareness of the challenges these waters face. Being lucky enough to call the Mornington Peninsula home, I regularly visit well-known sites near Melbourne, such as Blairgowrie Marina, Rye Pier and Flinders Pier – all of which are known internationally.

My passion is macro photography, particularly the local southern blue-ringed octopus that call Blairgowrie Marina and the surrounding piers home. I frequently dive with these amazing animals and often host guided dives to photograph blue-ringed octopus. As well as this I  love to photograph the local endemic life in Australian waters, including the giant Australian cuttlefish, the annual spider crab migration and of course the infamous and wondrous weedy seadragon.
